A large collection of movies is something anyone should be proud of. Organizing them on shelves is not difficult and it may be even fun for some people. If your movies are on your hard drive, it will be more difficult to manage them according to genre and other parameters. MyFilms can make your life much easier. You can use it to create a database with all the movies you have on your hard drive in a comfortable and efficient way.

It will not take long to install MyFilms. The installation kit is 6.18 Mb large and the setup wizard is straightforward. To run it successfully, you will need .NET Framework 4.0 and at least one media player. If you plan on using the software in Windows 7 or Vista, you will have to run it as an administrator.

When launching the program for the first time, you will have to select your movies folder. You can, of course, do it later from the general settings panel. Once you select this folder, all the movies will be displayed in a tree structure on the left side of the interface. Movies can be added manually as well as by right clicking the tree structure and choosing a context menu option. You can play one by selecting it and clicking a button on the toolbar. The software will play the movie in your default player, but you can also set it to use another one in the general settings panel.

Information regarding a certain movie can be specified on a separate window which can be accessed with an option from an item's context menu. It is possible to insert any description to a movie, including genre, year, country, rating, director, cast, plot and more.

A trailer can be associated with a movie by right clicking its entry and clicking the Find Trailer option. The software will search the web for related trailers and you only have to select the one you like most. If the tree menu gets too large, a search function will help you find a specific movie. Before searching, you can set up parameters like cast, director and others. It is also possible to mark films as favorites or viewed and filter them according to these criteria.

MyFilms also makes it possible to keep up with the latest movies. It will search for the Top 10 movies in theatres and it will display them on a separate window, along with their ratings, plots, casts and other information. This only requires clicking a toolbar button.

Pros

MyFilms makes it possible to catalogue the movies on your hard drive. Thanks to its features, you can browse through your movies and play them from the same interface. Regardless of how many movies you have or if they are in different locations, the program makes it very easy to manage them.

Cons

The software does not support some video formats, but you can still play the popular ones. Your movies can be scattered all over your hard drive. MyFilms will help you organize them in an orderly fashion, without needing to move them to different folders.
